Twin Cities PR BIPOC Career Explorer Program Launches

May 10, 2021 / News

Exponent PR has partnered with five other leading Twin Cities public relations agencies to launch the Twin Cities PR BIPOC Career Explorer, an externship program designed for BIPOC students interested in the practice of PR and communications. Students will be immersed in the communications and pr agency professions through a direct-access learning program of virtual workshops, mentoring and access to future internships. It is open to students of color who are in that “pre-internship” stage (roughly their Junior year) and will take place during the 2021 school year (September - April).

Participating students in this year’s virtual program will experience:

  • A real-world look at the communications and PR agency profession through a direct-access learning program.
  • Access to a network of professionals and mentors who can help connect them with future internship opportunities in the Twin Cities.
  • A $1,000 stipend for each student who participates.

The agencies organizing the program are:

  • Carmichael Lynch Relate
  • Exponent PR
  • Hotwire
  • Padilla
  • Tunheim
  • Weber Shandwick

In addition, the agencies are working with three university partners with different student profiles – the University of Minnesota, Metro State and Augsburg – to recruit from a diverse base of students from different backgrounds.
